Education is the most crucial foundation for a nation’s progress. Yet the reality on the ground often reveals that many educational facilities — especially in remote areas — are far from adequate. In facing this challenge, the active role of the private sector is greatly needed.

This is where the leadership of a resilient and visionary woman, Liwa Supriyanti, takes center stage. As President Director, she proves that business is not solely about expansion and financial gain, but also about delivering positive impact for the community and surrounding environment. Her dedication was recently made tangible through an educational infrastructure improvement program that directly touched the lives of grassroots communities.

Reviving Hope at SDN Gunungbatu Kebonpedes

The centerpiece of this human resource development initiative is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program targeting SDN Gunungbatu, located in Kebonpedes Village, Kebonpedes District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java.

The school had previously suffered severe structural damage, particularly in classrooms 4, 5, and 6, which were deemed hazardous. This forced teaching and learning activities to be conducted in a very limited manner — students were made to take turns in class, or were redirected to the library, prayer room, or outdoor corridors that flooded when it rained.

Seeing this distressing situation, Gunung Prisma, in collaboration with PT Selaras Prima Angkasa, moved swiftly to carry out a comprehensive renovation. On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the renovated school building was officially handed over. Beyond restoring the physical structure to a safe and comfortable state, the company also donated school supplies for students.

The principal of SDN Gunungbatu Kebonpedes, Ami Kusmaeni, expressed deep gratitude and appreciation for this strategic assistance. For her, the renovation has had a direct and positive impact on the quality of teaching and learning. Students can now focus on their studies in proper classrooms, free from worry.

An Empathetic Leadership Style from a Woman Director

The success of this well-targeted CSR program cannot be separated from the steady hand of the President Director. Amid the tough landscape of the national iron and steel trade industry, Liwa Supriyanti’s presence as a female executive and leader brings a distinctly different dimension. She has successfully combined sharp business instincts with a high degree of social empathy.

For Liwa, the company has a moral obligation to grow alongside its surrounding community. “This is one form of our care. We are deeply concerned seeing a damaged and uninhabitable school building,” she said at the inauguration ceremony. She further affirmed her principle that as an economic actor, corporations have a duty to share and provide benefits to those in need.

This inclusive leadership has successfully dismantled the stigma that heavy industry is only commercially oriented. She has built a strong personal brand as a Woman Director who places community welfare at the core of her company’s agenda.

Advancing Human Capital Through the Principle of Sustainability

More than just a physical restoration of a school building, this initiative in Sukabumi is a manifestation of Liwa Supriyanti’s firm commitment to sustainability. In the modern context, sustainability goes beyond greening or nature conservation — it also encompasses long-term human capital development.

Quality education is a primary pillar of social sustainability. By ensuring children have access to proper learning facilities, Gunung Prisma contributes to breaking the cycle of poverty and preparing a high-quality future generation. This concrete step aligns with the values of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A Track Record of Consistent, Impactful Social Programs

The school renovation in Sukabumi is not the first initiative under Liwa Supriyanti’s leadership. Her company’s track record of social commitment is highly consistent. Previously, they have channeled various forms of vital assistance, including donating 300 sets of hazmat suits to healthcare workers at Puskesmas Kopo (Serang Regency), providing steel materials for bridge construction in Nangela Village (Sukabumi), and delivering various social assistance programs for residents in the Bantargebang area.

This series of activities stands as valid proof that CSR, in the eyes of Liwa Supriyanti, is not merely a formal obligation — it is an ongoing dedication to the nation.

The story behind the renovation of SDN Gunungbatu Kebonpedes proves that when business is managed with conscience and a vision for sustainability, the impact becomes far-reaching and meaningful. Liwa Supriyanti sets a gold standard for how a female leader can helm a heavy industry company while still upholding its human side — not just building a credible corporate image, but weaving a brighter future for education and the next generation of the nation.
